Glyncoed is a large house in Cwrt Henri near Dryslwyn, Llandeilo.Glyncoed Care Home caters for service users with Learning Disabilities with behaviours that challenge. These disabilities include Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome, Prader Willi Syndrome & Downs Syndrome. Glyncoed house was built in the late 60’s and is unusual in design, resembling a ship when viewed from above. The house is spacious and provides a very homely, comfortable and stimulating environment for 6 service users with autistic spectrum disorder, learning disability and behaviours which challenge the service.
We have a games room where people can do activities, arts and crafts, music and dance or just enjoy relaxing on the bean bags with the sensory lights and music. We have a paddock and a summer house that our Service users thoroughly enjoy in the summer months, it is set along side the river sannan which Glyncoed has fishing rights to and where service users can catch fresh salmon. There is also a large patio area to the rear which runs adjacent to a large heated indoor swimming pool.
People living at Glyncoed enjoy a variety of activities both at home and in the community, we encourage everyone to be involved in the daily running of the home, keeping it clean and tidy as well as where possible choosing the décor for their own rooms reflecting their own personality & style. Everyone helps to maintain the gardens and we have a small vegetable plot where we grown our own vegetables and some fruits.
