Seaham View is an autism specific residential service situated on the Sea front of Seaham. Twelve people live in the spacious house with two enclosed courtyards and easy access to a wide range of local facilities. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provides support and care for 12 adults with Autism spectrum disorder and learning disabilities, as well as other related problems such as epilepsy and challenging behaviour.
Seaham View is staffed by a team with a wide range of both Autism specific and care management experience. High quality training is provided to ensure that all staff are all working to a high standard and that a positive and consistent environments maintained at all times, particularly when supporting people who can display challenging behaviour.
Evenings and weekends are mainly spent focusing on leisure and recreation based activities and further developing their life skills. Each person who lives at Seaham View has an individual assessment plan which identifies their particular areas of need and looks at ways in which to meet these in a positive way and a consistent manner, encouraging each individual to be as independent as possible and ensuring that they are offered the widest possible range of life experiences, maximising their potential.
