Halloween went off with a bang for Swanton Community Care Hull as they hosted a fiendish fundraising party.

The SCC Hull team took over The Brickmaker’s Arms pub dressed in their finest scary costumes and staged ghoulish games, a spooky buffet and a devilish disco. The people supported by SCC Hull helped to set up the event, which involved decorating the pub and putting together the buffet.

As well as a Best Dressed Competition, visitors enjoyed participating in Halloween games, chatting together and busting moves at the disco.

SCC Hull manager Lisa Goodwin said a combination of tickets sold and proceeds from raffles, games and tombola saw the fundraising total reach an incredible £500.

Lisa said: “We were thrilled to discover we’d managed to raise so much money for Swanton Care’s charity of the year, Happy Days!

“It was an evening full of screams, scares and spooks, but everybody left with a big smile on their face.

“It was great to see the people we support getting down at the disco and having lots of fun with the various games and activities. They are already talking about next year’s bash!”

Lisa is proud to say that the fundraising efforts by her colleagues and the people they support has raised a grand total of £1150 so far this year. She said that the group enjoy coming up with new ways to fundraise together.

Lisa said: “The kindness and generosity of the people we support touches our hearts.

“They are full of great ideas, and they love getting stuck in when we have a plan in place. Not only is this great for us as we put together fundraising events, but it empowers the people we support to make a difference in their community.”

Happy Days is a charity that supports funded days out for children with complex needs. From trips to the zoo to theatre visits to museums and the seaside, the charity has an incredible range of days out to suit every child.
