Swanton’s Values In Care services in South Wales injected a bit of movie magic into their activities during a special superhero week – and discovered true heroes live closer to home.

Each week, staff at the residential services get creative with a different theme by putting on lots of fun-filled activities for the people they support.

In superhero week, everyone was invited to celebrate their favourite big screen and comic book characters.

However, during the activities, artwork and photographs were created that depicted social care workers and NHS staff as a true inspiration.

Values In Care Regional Director Kate Taylor said that the hard-working staff across the services certainly are real-life superheroes.

Kate said: “We all love characters like Batman, Wonder Woman and Spiderman, but it’s key workers on the frontline who are doing heroic work right now.

“Like the NHS, our carers continue to care for the most vulnerable people in our society despite the challenging conditions and they are providing a vital service.

“We value every single one of our amazing care staff, and I want them to know that they are our real-life superheroes.”

According to Home Managers, the weekly themes are providing people supported at the South Wales services with a much-needed focus. There were some great superhero costumes and artwork created during this particular week.

The incredible efforts of creative staff mean that there’s no time to get bored as the activities keep everyone busy.

Kate continued: “Many of the people we support love to be out and about, so having to stay in can be difficult.

“Our theme weeks give them lots of opportunities to be creative, to keep their minds busy and to conquer boredom. So far, we’re hearing great feedback from our teams in the homes.”
