People supported in three Swanton services in South Wales have received a certificate to say ‘thank you’ for doing their bit for the NHS during the lockdown.

Senior Support Worker Michelle Handford decided to create the commendations to celebrate the achievements of people supported at Allt IoanTrem Y Mynydd and Nathan Street.

The eight people supported in those services were congratulated for doing so well to cope with the challenges of lockdown and for staying home to protect the NHS. They were also commended for their participation in the Clap For Carers initiative.

According to Team Leader Adam Hatto, Michelle’s gesture was the pick me up that the people they support needed.

Adam said: “It was lovely to see how delighted everyone was to get their certificates, Janet from Nathan Street posed for pictures – she was grinning from ear to ear.

“It’s been a difficult time for the people we support, but they done so well and been incredibly patient.

“I want to thank Michelle for coming up with such a fantastic idea. She always thinks of how she can bring more joy and happiness into the lives of the people we support.”
