The people supported at Seaham View got to enjoy a trip to the movies from the comfort of their own home this July.

Support staff turned the service’s lounge into a pop-up cinema for a special showing of the film version of Roald Dahl’s Matilda.

There were posters from various movie classics posted on the walls, as well as cinema snacks including popcorn, sweets and ice cream.

According to Service Manager Dhiraj Rijhwani, the audience had a fantastic night enjoying the magic of the movies.

Dhiraj said: “The team put on a marvellous movie night for the people we support.

“It’s always great to have an activity that everybody can enjoy together. There was a lot of excitement before Matilda started, then the group settled down to enjoy the film.

“It was great to see the people we support interacting together and having fun.”

Seaham View’s in-house cinema was such a success that the people supported at the service have asked if they could repeat the experience soon.

Plans are underway for the next Seaham View screening, which will involve another classic film that everyone loves and some tasty treats too.
