There was excitement for Seaham View’s Sarah Kingston this summer when she went on a shoe shopping trip in Durham.

During the lockdown, Sarah saved up to buy a pair of Dr Marten boots that she had her eye on. With the support of staff at Seaham View, Sarah had browsed online to find her favourite pair and was excited to go into her nearest stockist and buy them.

So, when the lockdown eased, and it was safe for Sarah to go into Durham, she made the most of her day out.

Service Manager Dhiraj Rijhwani said that Sarah had a wonderful time.

Dhiraj said: “After spending a lot of time at home during lockdown, it was great for Sarah to have a chance to enjoy spending the money she’d saved.

“She headed to Scorpio, which is a shoe shop in Durham that had the boots she liked in stock. After trying them on and buying them, Sarah decided to have a wander around Durham and to keep enjoying her day out.”

Sarah stuck to the social distancing guidelines as she walked around the city centre and went into a card shop. After the walk, she chose to have a KFC for lunch, so her support workers took her through their drive-thru on the way home.

Dhiraj added: “When Sarah arrived back at Seaham View, she told us she’d had a great day out.

“Now she’s started saving for her next shopping trip and is looking forward to another fun day in Durham.”
