The people supported at Swanton’s Hillcrest service staged a karaokethon this August to raise money for the COVID-19 Healthcare Support Appeal.
Meredith, Gary, Richard and David all took part in the three-hour musical marathon at the home in Carmarthenshire, Wales.
During the karaokethon, the fundraisers sang Tom Jones songs, hits from the new Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire and other classic tunes.
Team Leader James Murphy said they smashed their £100 fundraising target and made an awesome £212 for the charity.
James said: “The Hillcrest karaokethon was epic – our team sang for three solid hours!
“Originally, it was just going to be Meredith, Gary and Richard taking the mic, but David – who only recently moved in with us – decided to get involved too.
“Everyone got to pick the songs they wanted to sing. Richard is a huge Only Fools And Horses Fan, so he decided to give his rendition of the show’s theme tune and did a great job.
“We’re delighted to have made money for a good cause while having such a fun time together.”
The COVID-19 Healthcare Support Appeal is a subsidiary of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Foundation who support nursing teams on the frontline.
The appeal was created to give grants to health and care staff who have been adversely affected by the pandemic, focussing on hardship and psychological support.
