Seaham View’s Thomas Hughes celebrated turning 20 this autumn with a two-day celebration that he’s said was his ‘best birthday ever’.
After moving into Seaham View earlier this year, Thomas has impressed his support team by making tremendous progress and his birthday celebrations reflected how far he’s come.
Thomas had a wonderful time opening his presents, which included a Nerf gun and eating his special Nerf birthday cake. He got a personalised card from Team Seaham and enjoyed FaceTime calls with his family, who wanted to wish him well.
Next up was a trip to the seaside and Thomas stopped off in Whitby to enjoy a fish and chip lunch before heading to Scarborough to walk along the seafront.
He and support staff Linda and Donna went to Terror House, a haunted house attraction in Scarborough packed with scares. Thomas had a great time in Terror House, which lived up to its spooky moniker and then finished the day by popping to a sweet shop to buy candy rock.
Service Manager Dhiraj Rijhwani said that the birthday celebrations were lovely for Thomas and everyone who shared the day with him.
Dhiraj said: “We’re so proud of Thomas, he’s a wonderful lad and has done exceptionally well.
“We wanted to give him a birthday to remember, and it was fantastic to see Thomas get to enjoy his presents, a trip out and some special family catch-ups.
“We can’t wait to see how far Thomas will go in the next year, but for now it’s just been lovely to hear him say that this was his ‘best birthday ever!’”
