Swanton is kicking off 2021 with a new get moving challenge where people they support and staff work to complete an epic hike for charity.

Although nobody can follow the real-life route due to the current restrictions, Swanton has calculated that the team needs to travel 371 miles collectively to complete the challenge.

The miles measure the distance between Swanton’s Southfields service on the outskirts of Falkirk in Scotland past all the other services to Swanton House in Norfolk.

Teams can jog, walk or run, and must record their miles on a smartwatch, on their phone, or take a picture of their treadmill screen.

All proceeds of the hiking challenge will be donated to children’s charity Happy Days.

Executive Assistant Skala Peach said that everyone is invited to get involved.

Skala said: “We’re so excited to launch the Southfields to Swanton House Hike for Happy Days!

This is the perfect time to get moving for a good cause, and we know Team Swanton can smash it.

“It’s going to be a team effort, and we want everyone – from the people we support, Home Managers, remote workers, support staff and head office – to get involved. Let’s do this!

For every mile completed, Swanton will donate £1, so there will be a £371 fundraising pot before donations come in from family, friends and the public.

If Team Swanton beat the 371mile target, CEO Garry Cross will double the donation to £742.

Activities will begin on Wednesday 3rd February and the challenge will run until 24th February.

In February, Swanton have set a fundraising goal of £5,000 and will match all donations up to £2,500 given to the participants by sponsors from outside the company. This could mean that we achieve £5,742 from this event.
