Maestelio Support Worker Giles Thomas has been praised for going ‘above and beyond’ in his role at the South Wales service.

In particular, Giles has been lauded for the incredible work he’s done with one of the people supported at Maestelio.

Giles has taken it upon himself to work closely with Matthew to help him try new activities that would enhance his life.

Regional Director Simon Rooke said that Giles’ dedication and support have helped Matthew achieve enormous success.

Simon said: “Giles is always looking for ways to enhance the lives of the people we support at Maestelio.

“When he began working with Matthew, Giles suggested that they try golfing together and booked them a session on a local course.

“Matthew loved it and it’s been the start of him doing new activities for longer sessions than before.

“Not only has Matthew found a new hobby to enjoy, but he’s now able to do multiple activities in one day.

“That’s been a huge step forward for Matthew, and Giles is already planning ways to help him learn more skills and try new things.”

According to Simon, Giles is always looking for ways to contribute at work – whether he’s sharing new ideas on ways to support the people at Maestelio or doing household chores.

Simon adds: “Giles is so conscientious and takes his responsibility to the people he supports very seriously.

“The results he gets are superb, and that’s because he’s always thinking of new and creative ways to help the people we support to develop and grow.

“Whenever he gets a spare moment on his shift, he’ll run an errand for somebody or do a bit of cleaning.

“Giles is always finding ways to help others, and that’s part of what makes him a terrific carer.”
