This year’s Swanton exercise-a-thon will run for 30 hours straight after the team ups their efforts following their 2020 success.
Last year, services across the UK took part in 24 hours of continuous movement to raise vital funds for children’s charity Happy Days.
The exercise-a-thon works by Swanton staff and the people they support acting as a relay team over video calls where they complete their activity and then virtually ‘pass the baton’.
On 4th August at 10am the exercise-a-thon will begin, ending at 4pm on 5th August after 30 hours of 30-minute slots.
In 2020, the teams completed HIT sessions, climbing, cycling and golf, to name just a few of the activities. This year the team have double the slots to fill, so expect to see a wider variety of sports included in the two-day event.
Swanton CEO Garry Cross said he’s excited about the challenge of 30-hours of non-stop movement.
Garry mentioned: “This is an excellent opportunity for people we support and colleagues at Team Swanton to have fun and demonstrate how their enthusiasm can raise money for Happy Days.
“Last year, everyone did fantastic work – especially those who did exercise slots in the early hours of the morning to keep it going.
“It was terrific to see the variety of sports and that we had inclusive, chair-based sessions so everyone could take part.
“We smashed our £4,000 target last year, and I’ve no doubt we’ll be able to do even better this year!”
