A local cycling club is providing regular biking fun for people supported at Maestelio Mansions.
Community-based charity BikeAbility Wales helps people get involved in cycling by providing a range of different bikes to ride on at their sessions.
The inclusive initiative means that people supported at Maesteilo can join in with the fun on adapted bikes which they can ride alone or with a member of their support team.
Team Maesteilo heads to Dunvant Rugby Club most weeks to take part, and Deputy Manager Rebecca Williams says the people they support love going.
Rebecca said: “BikeAbility is a terrific charity, and the work they do brings so much happiness to the people we support.
“We try to get along to Dunvant every week because Omar and Phillip absolutely love being on the bikes.
“What’s great is that there are hand-controlled trikes and bikes that we can ride on together, which means that everybody can get involved.
“The minute Omar gets on his bike he whizzes off and has a brilliant time. Phillip hardly stops smiling when he’s there and tells us how much he loves it.”
At BikeAbility, people of all different ages and levels of mobility can have a go at cycling.
Rebecca says that it’s great for the people she supports to be part of something with other members of the community.
Rebecca said: “When we go along there are lots of other people there and so it’s great fun.
“It’s nice to be involved with something in the community, and for the people we support to be about and about with others.”
