There was excellent news for the team at Number Four in Salford this autumn when they received their fourth ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report in a row.
Registered Manager Elaine Evans and her colleagues were thrilled with the high praise from the independent reviewing officer.
In the glowing report, Number Four was described as a “nurturing and supportive home” where “Children thrive due to the calm, nurturing approach, positive role modelling and the strong importance and emphasis given to their positive behaviour”.
The impact of this environment on the wellbeing of the children supported at the service meant that they “feel safe” and “have a strong sense of belonging.”
The report also said: “Children have an active voice, and its impact can be seen at all levels of the home.
“Staff are committed to listening to children and ensuring that the home is an empowering place for them to grow up in.
“As a result, staff know the children extremely well and understand what is important in each child’s life.”
Regional Director Jackie Hills, who prepared a special cake, gifts and a celebration for the team, said the report noted how home schooling during the pandemic had helped the children excel in their education too.
Jackie said: “The children supported at Number Four are incredible, and we’re all so proud of them.
“The Ofsted inspector commended the home schooling the team did and wrote, ‘As a result, children received awards from their schools for excellent participation and results. They have received excellent exam grades.’
“We want them to follow their dreams and achieve their goals, so it was wonderful to receive this feedback and earn another ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted.”
The team were thrilled when they were presented with gift bags stuffed with goodies, their stunning cake and some fizz.
In the Ofsted report, local social workers also heaped praise on Number Four.
The report said: “One social worker said, ‘The encouragement and praise given to her is brilliant. All homes should be like this.’ Another said, ‘I would recommend this home to anyone and I would not hesitate to place another child here. They go above and beyond.’”
