Drag royalty from Swanton services battled to win in a glam competition that saw two queens tie for the crown.

Trixie Mattel (aka Emma Jones) and Crystal Methyd (aka Sharon Jones) from Maes Y Bryn slayed, and the judges awarded them £100 each for their chosen charity.

The girls were inspired by Ru Paul’s drag race contestants and donated their prize money to Scott Abbruzzese Sporting Scholarship.

Second place went to Liayle Morgan from SCC Hull, whose alter ego Ms Big Jue Wells hosted rainbow bingo during Swanton’s Pride Month celebrations.

Liayle donated his £100 prize to Galop, a charity to support LGBTQ people experiencing domestic violence and discrimination

Meanwhile, third-place winner Callum Price from Maes Y Bryn gave his £50 winnings to Child Autism UK.

The judges, who included Swanton’s Quality Assurance Lead Rachael Preece, loved all the drag looks and said it was a perfect way to have fun while celebrating Pride 2022.

Rachael said: “What a fabulous assortment of glamorous ladies.

“The make-up, the fashion and the attitude were all on point. We must give massive props to team Maes Y Bryn for dominating the competition.

“If Ru Paul is watching, you know the next series of Drag Race UK is coming live from their service!”

Excitingly, it wasn’t just Swanton’s humans who got a piece of the Pride action this year.

Three adorable pet pooches also got involved by doing a doggy drag walk.

Chica, Edith and Darcy all wore the rainbow flag with pride as they sashayed their way into the judges’ hearts, thanks to owners Lisa Goodwin and Lauren Batty.

Rachael: “A big round of a-paws to all our drag doggies – they came here to slay, not play.

“We loved the energy, commitment and style of their photos. There’s no doubt that they gave the humans a run for their money.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved in our Pride month activities, particularly my colleagues Lisa Goodwin, Liayle Morgan and Joe Laundon, who helped organise everything.

“It’s so important to celebrate and educate during Pride month, and I hope everyone has enjoyed it.”
