I joined Values in Care in May 2021 as Registered Manager at Graig Llwyd, I then transferred to set up Windy Ridge in May 2023.
I have been in the care sector for 29 years, working with a range of different individuals with varying medical diagnosis, such as Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, Bi-Polar, Mood Disorders, Prada Willi Syndrome, mild to severe Learning Disabilities, elderly with Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis and Mental Health Disorders.
I am highly motivated to continually lead my team to provide the highest quality individualised service to the people we support in order to see them grow and reach all their goals and aspirations.
Receiving positive feedback and hearing of the goals the people we support has achieved, always feels like a sense of achievement and reward. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the people we support and their families when they are happy and proud of their achievements is why I enjoy my role as Registered Manager so much.
I began working in Social Care sector since January 1996, this was soon after I finished my degree in BSc Behavioural sciences. I commenced employment as a support worker with a not-for-profit organisation working with adults with learning disabilities. This was during the time when Ely hospital in South Wales was in the process transitioning people from hospital to resettle in the community into supported living accommodation.
I continued my employment with the organisation, developing in my career with various roles across the organisation, working with different models of support including supported living, respite, community support and residential manager roles.
I have worked in senior management roles for the last 15 years mainly in operations and quality assurance. I have been a Registered Manager since 2014 with two providers in the last 27 years.
I am a trainer and been the organisational lead for person centred practise, ensuring that people supported live lives to their full potential and are encouraged to have greater choice and control. I feel passionate that people are at the forefront of their own support provision ensuring that the quality-of-service provision is exceptional.
I have recently joined Swanton Care, Values in Care as the Regional Director in August 2023 and look forward to working within this organisation to continue my career development supporting people and staff to reach their goals and aspirations.
