Operating across South Yorkshire, Emerald Care specialises in residential care, supported living and outreach care for people with autism, learning difficulties – and who show behaviours that can be challenging.
Our ten years’ experience in delivering person centred care enables people to achieve what they want from their lives. We develop individual plans with short, medium and long-term objectives all with the help of parents and loved ones.
Keeping active is key to wellbeing – families frequently say that the range of activities available to people we support is second to none – and we constantly look for ways to further improve their quality of life.
We train our team members with verbal and non-verbal communication skills ensuring they understand and meet the people we support’s every need. Far from being risk averse, we frequently conduct and review the risk assessments we undertake on people we support’s behalf. And we always strive to overcome challenges if the outcomes benefit those in our care.
We also work closely with local advocacy groups who can give impartial and independent advice.
Emerald Care Services makes a real difference to the lives of the people we support. Our commitment to consistently driving up quality care standards – coupled with our person-centred care ethos – puts the people we support firmly in control. We are transparent about how we operate, we don’t just talk about the importance of person-centred care; we deliver it day in and day out.
Emerald Care Services is experienced in providing supported living -providing specialist support in people’s own homes.
We are regulated and regularly inspected, and our comprehensive training ensures that all our team members are equipped with the necessary skills for individuals we support – whether this be epilepsy, medication, autism, behaviours that can be challenging, peg feeding and first aid.
Delivering services across Rotherham and Barnsley, every member of the team undergoes police checks, and their references and experience are meticulously followed up. We also ensure that individuals on our supported living programme receive regular medical checks ups which we attend. The strong partnerships we forge with GPs, social services and other relevant providers is key for making sure they have a healthy lifestyle of their choosing.
We champion individuals making their own choices and are instrumental in helping to find the appropriate accommodation with our housing partners with whom we can arrange a tenancy. We will also work with social services to arrange housing benefits.
Aligned with our belief that everyone’s needs are different, we tailor make our support packages for each person and work closely with social services to ensure the best outcomes and wellbeing for those we support.
Emerald Care Services is adept at providing shot term respite care for periods spanning two weeks to three months.
Our respite care facilities can be a steppingstone towards the people we support’s independence or as a break for carers. Our committed team have extensive experience and formal training working with people who challenge and those on the autistic spectrum. Equipped with knowledge, understanding and appreciation, they ensure our service users stay with us is stimulating and enjoyable via the wide-ranging activities we provide.
Providing much needed social contact and space and breaks for parents who act as carers for their own son or daughter, Emerald Care Services caters for people with wide-ranging issues on the autistic spectrum – including those with challenging behaviours.
Since 2008 our team of highly experienced and qualified Support Workers have provided quality and needs led care support which is offered in full hour blocks for between four and eight hours per day – and can be arranged for any number of days per week. With the benefit of 1:1 or 2:1 support, we can focus on skill development and the promotion of independence by integrating into the local community to access all the facilities available.
Our specialist support is geared towards individuals whose care is either paid for by Social Services or paid by their own budgets via direct payments. This care can progress to respite care and long-term support. Delivering flexible community support tailored to individual needs, we undertake an assessment, which acknowledges each individual carer’s views, and we also liaise with other agencies.
We aim to provide a balanced timetable of activities appropriate to the person and set agreed goals, which we will record in their personalised care plan.
Our team always strives to work with parents and Social Services to enhance individual development, independence and integration into the local community. We will help each individual to set their own programme of activities which are balanced to meet the agreed aims of support.
Emerald Care Services is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the provision of Residential Services for people who present behaviours which challenge as well as people who are on the autistic spectrum.
All our caring and committed team members are vetted by the Disclosure and Barring Service run by the Home Office.
We constantly strive to provide homes with a relaxed atmosphere that promotes individuality, giving each person we support the right to dignity, choice, privacy and independence. We champion the integration of people into the community, by using local facilities such as shops, cafes, libraries, public houses and leisure centres – drawing on public and private transport for outings or holidays.
We actively promote and encourage those we care for to maintain contact with their family and friends by phone, email, letters, visits and holidays. The people we support and their families likewise play a key role in selecting fulfilling and balanced activities which are risk assessed. We encourage visits because we know that family and friends are very important – and we understand how hard it can be to see your son/daughter leave home.
Every person we support has an individual plan which is based on their needs and developed with social services and families. Most importantly, the plan is developed with the people we support and features short, medium and long-term objectives.
Those we support are healthy, happy, and make friends – enjoying a balance between physical activities, social activities, educational and relaxation.
