Lynnwood Avenue – Swanton Care, is one of our popular 4-bedroom care homes in Newcastle. Providing tailored support to those with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs, including supporting people with varied emotional support. We are located close to a natural country park and local amenities with excellent transport links to Newcastle City Centre with local shops, cafes, and restaurants in close proximity.
I recently joined Swanton Care as a Service Manager early in 2022 where I am working towards my Level 5 Registered Management Qualification, having supported people with learning disabilities and autism for over 20 years in various settings.
I moved to Swanton Care as I believe in their ethos, that is further developing Swanton Care’s reputation as a creative, people-focussed organisation with a very strong practice-based support.
I have a particular interest in promoting personalised care, positive behaviour, and active support. I am passionate about supporting and working alongside families and local communities to ensure that people who need support build strong connections within their local community.
To provide quality support I believe that working in partnership with the people we support, allows us to embrace and provide safe and meaningful care while encouraging growth and opportunity. This enables the people we support to live with choice and achieve their full potential.
I joined Swanton in 2017 as a service manager and worked with the team to expand supported living services as well as manage residential homes. In time, I became regional director for the North-East in 2021. I learned very early on in my career with Swanton that the company is very passionate about the people we support, their homes and enriching their quality of life, which aligns with my own values.
I moved to England from Mumbai, India, in 2005 for education which I continued to do for several years. During this time, I integrated with people from many countries and cultures, and this helped broaden my viewpoints massively. I firmly believe this helped me to embrace diversity and value varied inputs throughout my career, which I have been in since 2006.
I understand that being in a support environment can be difficult. Together, the team and I are here to help in empowering and supporting those in our care to feel safe and live the lives they wish to lead.
I started my career as a Support Worker when I graduated university in 2004, progressing my way through Deputy Manager and Home Manager, eventually joining Swanton in 2018 working as a Locality Manager covering services in and around Hull.
I have successfully held registrations for, and worked in, a full range of services from Supported Living to challenging Residential homes.
I share Swanton Care’s passion for ensuring that the vulnerable people in our care have the best life and opportunities possible. I believe this is achieved by making sure the people we support have their voices heard and that our teams are appropriately trained ad supported to provide this care.
I feel privileged to work in such a rewarding sector with a fantastic team, I look forward to what the future will bring for the people we support and our organization.
The people we support at Lynwood Avenue – Swanton Care, are involved in all planning of their care and are encouraged and supported to live an active and fulfilling life. Our positive behaviour support enables us to empower the people we support to explore new activities and create opportunities for themselves they may not have experienced previously.
Positive feedback from our recent CQC Report read that families were complimentary about our team at Lynnwood. They said: “The team at Lynnwood has my son’s best interests in all they do, they are brilliant.” And “I love the fact they put my son first.”
Every person we support at Lynwood enjoys a variety of activities on offer in a relaxed and warm environment. Community engagement is strongly encouraged.
