Cake-tastic Bake Off Makes Swanton Coffee Morning Extra Delicious

An impromptu Bake Off competition saw Swanton’s Llanelli office packed to the rafters with delicious treats this February.

Team Leaders from services in West Wales had so much fun baking with the people they support that they turned the activity into a competition.

Every service was heading to the monthly coffee morning at the Community Support office, so they brought along their sweet treat offerings for judging.

Community Team Leader Damien Jenkins and Rota coordinator Jonathan Harvey channelled their inner Paul Hollywoods to find the top three bakes.

Damien said: “You have never seen so much cake in your life – it was amazing.

“Every service was represented, and many of them arrived with a selection of cakes.

“The space was packed to the rafters with people and their bakes, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

“It was not the world’s most difficult job to be chief judge and taste tester!”

First place went to the bakers at Deheubarth who produced a beautiful vanilla sponge with flower design.

Team Maesawel took second place with their Victoria sponge filled with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.

Meanwhile, Nathan Street came in third place thanks to their beautifully- designed cupcake with strawberry whipped icing on top.

Damien said: “All the cakes in the competition were terrific, so congratulations to our top three for doing so well.

“The event was such a success that we’re taking no chances with the next coffee morning and booking a bigger venue.

“It’s lovely to bring all our services together to socialise like this. Everyone is looking forward to the March event.”
