Felando Carves Out A Bright Future With Skills Courses

Industrious Felando is busy building a bright future after completing the second module of a new skills course.

Felando, who is supported by Swanton Care & Community Norwich, signed up for an Adult Building Skills Learning Course and has recently finished the carpentry module.

It’s given Felando, 60, a huge boost to improve his carpentry know-how, having already mastered the tiling part of the course.

Next up, he’ll be learning plastering, and with all three skills perfected, Felando will be a very handy man to know.

SCS Norwich Service Manager Matt Wheeler said: “We’re so impressed with Felando, he’s done brilliantly on this course.

“He’s very independent and aims to learn a range of skills that could eventually help him build his own business.

“Felando’s support worker Danny has really helped him to achieve his goals so far, with lots of encouragement and care.

“Danny is a DIY expert and can turn his hand to anything, which has been inspiring for Felando.

“It’s great to see the positive impact Danny has had on Felando and how much he’s achieved already.”

Felando isn’t going to stop learning once he’s got the plastering module finished.

He’s already looking into an accountancy course to round out the skills he needs to be self-employed.

Matt added: “Felando has a dream, and he’s taking all the right steps to achieve it.

“For now, he’ll use his building skills to create things at home and do projects there.

“But his ultimate goal is to launch his own business, and it’s fantastic to see him putting all these plans into action to get where he wants to be.

“Everyone at SCS Norwich is proud of Felando and can’t wait to see where his learning journey takes him.”
