Janet delivers kindness with harvest basket

A family in need will be able to enjoy some nourishing food thanks to the kindness of Nathan Street’s Janet.

Big-hearted Janet was inspired after hearing about an initiative to deliver dry foods to people facing tough times.

Accompanied by Support Worker Kim, Janet went to her local supermarket, where she picked up tea bags, noodles, canned fruit, biscuits, soup, and condensed milk.

Back at Nathan Street, Janet was supported to assemble her harvest basket, which she wrapped in cellophane.

Team Leader Alanna Key went with Janet to donate the basket at her local church.

Alanna said: “We are all so proud of Janet and her efforts.

“When we told her about harvest baskets, she wanted to get involved and donate hers to her local church.

“Janet loves the church and goes three times a week, where the vicar and parishioners are so welcoming and inclusive.

“They do a lot of work with people in the local community who’ve fallen on hard times, so we know Janet’s basket will be gratefully received.”

Janet has been attending the church for some years and loves to go to their coffee mornings, Sunday worship and Christmas events.

Alanna said: “Church is a really social place for Janet, and she really enjoys spending time with her friends there.

“It’s lovely for her to give something back with her harvest basket and help the church with their vital work.”
