Lataya House Determined to beat PB with 2022 ‘Walk for Autism’

Fundraising superstars at Lataya House are gearing up to take on the Walk For Autism challenge in 2022 and beat the total they raised last year.

During the 2021 challenge, people supported at Lataya House, their families, and Care Colleagues raised an incredible £2,950.52 for the charity – including a £1000 donation from Swanton HQ. The ‘Walk For Autism’ invites people to become super steppers to raise awareness and understanding of autism, as well as fundraising for autism.

Service Manager Zoe Whitbread said the group got outside every day to do steps in their garden as they were still in lockdown. This year, however, they’ll be joining forces with Lilly House and Lucerne House in a bid to smash last year’s record and achieve a fundraising for autism PB. Zoe said:

“The ‘Walk For Autism’ challenge is a cause close to our hearts, and it was fantastic to tackle it together. We got so lucky with the weather, and it was great fun to get outside and skip, walk and dance our way to our steps. All the young people we support and the whole team got involved, and it bought us even closer together. As a service, it was such a terrific team-building experience for us, and it felt amazing to hand over such a huge amount to the charity.”

Relatives helped chip in with the fundraising for autism and were keen to hear if Lataya House would take on the 2022 challenge. Zoe said that after such a great experience last year, everyone was keen to do it again and encourage other services to join them. She also added :

“We’ve got three services working together this year, so the sky is the limit! It looks like we’ll have around 15 people we support and 20 team members taking part. Last year, there were lots of smiles, and the families loved seeing the people we support having so much fun. Here’s hoping our 2022 efforts will bring in even more money for this amazing cause.”
