Rozmina takes her first steps to an exciting new future

Team Sampson Park is celebrating after witnessing the miraculous progress of Rozmina, who has taken her first steps.

When Rozmina first arrived at the service, she was bedbound after spending months languishing in a residential care home.

However, after arriving in Sampson Park, the team immediately started working with Rozmina on her mobility.

In October this year, less than 12 months after arriving at the service, Rozmina amazed herself and the team by taking her first steps.

Service Manager Annabelle Turner said it was a very emotional moment for everyone.

Annabelle said, “Seeing Rozmina take her first steps was amazing.

“She kept saying, ‘I’ve done it, I’ve walked!’ and we were all really emotional.

“When Rozmina arrived here, she had a standing aid, and we wanted to build her confidence in using it.

“She has a team who work with her day in, day out, and together they’ve built a strong, trusted bond.

“The joy on Rozmina’s face was indescribable – she wanted me to ring her sister straight away to tell her.”

The support team at Sampson Park have worked tirelessly with Rozmina and always believed she could regain mobility.

So, when they arrived the next day at work, Rozmina couldn’t wait to tell them what she’d achieved.

Anabelle said: “Rozmina is so proud of herself, and when the team arrived for work, she told them all about it.

“We’ve had some lovely moments along the way, for example, when Rozmina could have a little dance using her frame.

“But to take steps is a really huge milestone on her journey. We can’t wait to see how she progresses from here.”
