Smiley Aces His Dream Job Interview

There was excellent news for Wayne, aka Smiley from Belvedere, this spring when he successfully passed a job interview at Swanton Care & Community Barnsley.

Smiley has always had a massive interest in office work and his support workers even set up a desk and supplies for him in his bedroom.

But Smiley’s ambition was to become part of the Management Team at SCS Barnsley, so Scheme Manager Courtney Gibson and HR Advisor Kelly Squires agreed to formally interview him for the position of Manager.

Service Manager Darren Cross said that Smiley made a considerable effort to prepare for the interview and make a good impression.

Darren said: “We all know how much this opportunity meant to Smiley, so he was supported every step of the way.

“He put his freshly pressed suit on, grabbed his briefcase and went from Belvedere to SCS Barnsley on the bus.

“Smiley had a formal interview with Courtney and Kelly, and they were very impressed with his enthusiasm and drive.

“We asked Smiley to leave the interview, and it was unanimously decided that he’d be an asset to the team.”

Smiley has already begun his new job, where he’ll spend one day a month at the SCS Barnsley office doing administrative tasks.

Darren added: “We’re starting with photocopying jobs, and then we’ll find out what other tasks appeal to Smiley.

“He’s already attended his first Teams meeting where all the managers across the region made him feel very welcome.

“This is an excellent achievement, and we’re excited to see where this work can take Smiley next.”
