Talented King Davies Dogbe Driven by an Oscar Ambition

There are plenty of exceptional people working for Swanton, but only one is confident they’ll be a future Academy Award-winning actor.

King Davies Dogbe does Support Work shifts at Telford’s Magnolia service to give back for the many blessings he’s been given in life.

Chief among those blessings is his acting talent, which has seen King Davies Dogbe win roles in shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime and in the music video Bring Me The Horizon: Strangers.

However, he says his ambition in life is to take home the Academy Award for Best Actor, and he knows that dream will one day become a reality.

King Davies Dogbe said: “I know, from the bottom of my heart, that I will win an Oscar. I can feel it.

“I am a very focused person, and I believe in God, working hard and keeping discipline.”

King Davies Dogbe trained in performing arts at the University of Northampton and is now doing a Masters at The University of Salford.

He says that it was at university that he got his first experience of care work and has been committed to helping others ever since.

King Davies Dogbe said: “My passion for helping people started when I did a work experience placement where we performed for people living with learning disabilities.

“I loved it and being able to help people, and I don’t see it as work. My acting pays for me to live, and the work I do at Swanton is a vocation.

“The way God blessed me has given me so much in my life, and now I want to bless other people in any way I can.”

Last year, King Davies Dogbe achieved a major milestone in his career when he wrote, directed, and performed a unique piece of live theatre.

The show – Dupe: The Story She Couldn’t Tell – was inspired by the life story of a very important woman in King Davies’ life.

He explained: “Dupe is like a mother to me, and I had to sit her down, interview her about her life and then carefully put her story together using her own words.

“Her remarkable life took her from the Biafra war to the imprisonment during the Yugoslavia war, to the Italian racism culture, to the lack of integration in the United Kingdom. She came to see me perform it live and cried. It was amazing and crazy for both of us.”

As King Davies Dogbe continues to build his career, he’s also working at Swanton’s Telford services with the people they support.

He’s currently creating his own show and continues to work towards that Oscar goal, alongside supporting people and giving back where he can.

King Davies Dogbe said: “I don’t know how long it will take me to win my Oscar – it could be 10 years or twenty, it is in God’s hands.

“But in the meantime, I’m going to keep working and doing what I can to create, give back and stay focused.”
