Team Swn Y Nant Receive Amazing Feedback For New Service

Values In Care’s Swn Y Nant service has received praise from relatives and regulators after just a few months of operating.

Service Manager Jennifer Jenkins said the team was bowled over by the response to their lively, happy community.

Swn Y Nant is home to Joe C, Joe S, Josh, Jarryd and Eefie, who have settled in well since the service opened last August.

After a visit from Care Inspectorate Wales, Jennifer and the team were thrilled to receive high praise.

Jennifer said: “This is a very lively, active service because we support five people aged 19 – 34.

“They are a very bubbly bunch, and the staff team here are very bubbly too, so there is lots of fun, laughter and music.

“When the CIW inspector came to assess us, she said that it was lovely to see what a genuine bond there was between the people we support and the support staff,

“She said that it was clear that the staff were really passionate about their work.”

Team Swn Y Nant all started together as they were recruited ahead of the service opening.

They do lots of activities with the people they support at home, including baking, arts and crafts, sports and music. There are also plenty of excursions into the local community and beyond.

According to Jennifer, colleagues gelled really well from the off and the running of the service has been smooth.

She said: “When people get on so well and work brilliantly together, it creates a terrific atmosphere at the service.

“We’ve had lots of lovely feedback from the families of the people we support, who are happy that their loved ones are so well looked after and content.

“It’s meant the world to us to know we’re providing them with a home they love to be in.”
