Team West Wales (and friends) scale Pen Y Fan in all weathers for mental health charity

Swanton’s West Wales regional team braved the wet weather to scale Pen Y Fan in Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons) last month, all in the name of charity.

In total 23 people (plus one dog) took part in the sponsored walk, all in aid of Andys Man Club – a suicide prevention charity.

The fundraising challenge was the idea of Luke Collins, a person Swanton supports at Glangarnant.

The intrepid West Wales Swanton team was also joined by Chris Green from Values in Care, Swanton’s CFO Julianne Baker and Swanton’s COO for Scotland and Wales Kate Pearce.

Kuba Nowak, Regional Director West Wales, said that despite the challenging conditions the event had been a great success.

He said: “In some ways the weather made us feel like we’d achieved even more.

“It was a cold, wet and windy day, especially at the top, the view was just white cloud! Everyone got absolutely soaked through, but everyone had a great time and we’re already making plans for our next fundraiser.

“And we are proud to have helped one of the people we support fundraise for Andys Man Club – it’s a cause very close to their heart.”

The walk up the 886m Pen Y Fan mountain started in the Pont ar Daf car park, and then followed a 4-mile route to the top and back.
