Tom Smashes 100 Mile Challenge To Raise Over £5k for Cancer Research

A massive well done to Tom from Seaham View, who has raised an incredible £5k for Cancer Research UK by walking over 150 miles.

Tom now holds the record for the most money raised by any individual at Swanton, an awe-inspiring achievement.

After signing up for the charity’s Walk 100 Miles In May challenge, Tom elected to count only the miles he clocked up on dedicated walks to make his total.

Not only did Tom reach his goal, but he ended up walking over 150 miles and bringing in an incredible fundraising total of £5550.

Service Manager Stuart Healer said that Tom’s achievement was simply awe-inspiring.

Stuart said: “We are so proud of Tom – and we created a finishing line at Seaham View for him to cross when he arrived back from his final walk.

“We had the music cranked up and a confetti cannon too. It was a magical moment.

“Tom has absolutely smashed it, and we can’t believe how brilliantly he’s done.”

The fundraising was given a massive boost by Tom’s dad, who shared details of his son’s challenge on LinkedIn.

Thanks to an incredible response from his friends and associates on the social media channel, Tom’s fundraiser total shot up.

Stuart added: “It’s awesome to know that so many people got behind Tom on this challenge.

“His family are very proud of him too.”
