Bluebell House is a brand new 6 bedded children’s home in Walsall, which provides support for children with a learning disability and/ or physical disability.
The home has a multitude of breakout spaces, including 2 activity rooms, a sensory room and two lounge spaces for if the children choose to have time alone. All bedrooms have en-suits and bedrooms will be personalised and decorated with the children’s voice being the centre on these decisions, upon admission.
Our aim is to ensure the children we will support will have their voice heard and acted upon, to enable them to live their best potential and outcomes.
Learning disabilities
I joined Swanton in September 2022 as the registered manager for Bluebell House. My journey in social care started as a support worker in 2015 and I have progressed into managing homes and supporting children and teams with a variety of needs including, learning disabilities and emotional behavioural difficulties.
My philosophy is to ensure that the children we support have their voice heard and that we, as a team, give support the young people to live a fulfilling life.
I pride myself in leading a team that provides high-quality care to enable the best outcomes for the children we support.
I have been working in residential care and special needs school/services since 1999. My Previous roles include consultancy work, supporting failing homes and schools to improve. I then became a Registered Manager for 5 years, during this time, the team and myself had an Ofsted Judgment of ‘outstanding’ for 5 years.
My more recent roles progressed to Operational Manager supporting 13 homes and most recently In November 2015 I joined Courtyard Care as Regional Director.
I am a qualified Social Worker who is passionate and driven to provide the best possible outcomes for children and young people we support. Myself and my team have a keen interest in ensuring our services are ‘fit for purpose’ and meet all regulatory frameworks/requirements. We are very child-centred and believe every child should be given the opportunity to grow and succeed. Barriers can be overcome by working together to achieve the best outcomes.
We celebrate all achievements as every step is a milestone for the children / young people we support.
I am also the Responsible Individual (RI) for all of our children’s homes in the North.
