Ger Y Nant – Values in Care is a large 4-bedroom dormer bungalow home, set within a pleasant residential area of Edwardsville Treharris, within close proximity to Cardiff. It is very close to the M4 with easy access to other major cities, beaches, forests and much more.

I started my journey with Values in Care back in 2014 as a relief Support Worker, dedicated to assisting individuals with learning disabilities and autism. My role involved teaching new skills and fostering growth through a person-centered approach. Over the past decade, I have advanced within the organization, transitioning from Team Leader to Deputy Manager, and currently serving as the Registered Manager.
At Ger y Nant, our focus is on enabling individuals to lead active and fulfilling lives. We provide personalized care tailored to each person’s specific needs, ensuring they have a say in their support and the freedom to explore new activities.
Recognizing the significance of relationships for emotional well-being, we actively promote positive connections with families and support networks. Our aim is to cultivate social skills and create opportunities for personal development, empowering individuals to have positive relationship with their families/support network.
I began working in Social Care sector since January 1996, this was soon after I finished my degree in BSc Behavioural sciences. I commenced employment as a support worker with a not-for-profit organisation working with adults with learning disabilities. This was during the time when Ely hospital in South Wales was in the process transitioning people from hospital to resettle in the community into supported living accommodation.
I continued my employment with the organisation, developing in my career with various roles across the organisation, working with different models of support including supported living, respite, community support and residential manager roles.
I have worked in senior management roles for the last 15 years mainly in operations and quality assurance. I have been a Registered Manager since 2014 with two providers in the last 27 years.
I am a trainer and been the organisational lead for person centred practise, ensuring that people supported live lives to their full potential and are encouraged to have greater choice and control. I feel passionate that people are at the forefront of their own support provision ensuring that the quality-of-service provision is exceptional.
I have recently joined Swanton Care, Values in Care as the Regional Director in August 2023 and look forward to working within this organisation to continue my career development supporting people and staff to reach their goals and aspirations.

Ger Y Nant – Values in Care, supports 4 people with varying needs and therefore strongly supports a person-centred manner to ensure that each person is respected, and our support is tailored to their needs. The team are passionate about what they do and on any given day you will hear plenty of joy and laughter within the home.
We have a good relationship with our local inspector and feedback is always positive, it is pleasing to see that they recognise the opportunities provided for the people we support.
