I joined Swanton Care as a Deputy Service Manager in September 2020 during the midst of Covid-19. Whilst this was an extremely challenging time, the strength and teamwork I experienced amongst my colleagues was exceptional. I have since grown within myself and the company, progressing in my career to Registered Manager.
Care has been a part of my life for around 15 years and I have previously worked in a multitude of supporting roles such as; supporting young offenders in a day unit, nursing care, supporting individuals who have acquired brain injuries and spending time as a teaching assistant. The key skills and knowledge I have built up over the years helps me guide and support my team to offer the best possible care to the people we support.
I have a strong value-based approach to life and to my role as Registered Service Manager, I believe in respect, equality, and a high quality of life for everybody.
I joined Swanton Care in September 2006 as a Support Worker at Maesteilo care home, since then I have gradually progressed through to Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Home Manager and most recently progressing to Regional Director of Wales in July 2022. Throughout my time with Swanton Care, they have supported me through my Level 3 and Level 5 Management qualification in Health and Social Care.
I have supported people with learning disabilities and autism for over 16 years, the knowledge and skills gained during this time is invaluable and has supported my progression through to my current role. My philosophy is to provide person-centred care that embraces safe and meaningful care for the people we support, encouraging growth and opportunity. I am a strong believer that working together is best and working in partnership with the people we support brings more positive and meaningful outcomes.
During my seven years of being a Manager, I have helped develop 4 members of my team who then progressed to Deputy or Managers. Encouraging my team to develop and grow always brings a smile to my face and I look forward to continuing this throughout my role as Regional Director.
