Hi, I’m Stuart Healer, the service manager of Seaham View – Swanton Care. I have worked with Swanton since 2011, beginning as a Support Worker, working with adults with learning disabilities and autism.
In prior positions I had never enjoyed my day-to-day roles; however, I found that becoming a Support Worker was extremely rewarding and I could set goals and achievements for myself to ultimately become Service Manager one day. With the help and support of Swanton Care, providing me with the tools and patience to complete multiple diplomas in health and social care, team leading and management qualifications and a positive behaviour support qualification. I achieved my goal in March 2021 all whilst supporting lots of amazing individuals in our care.
Although my role and responsibilities have changed, the most important responsibility hasn’t, we want to ensure that Every Moment Matters for the people we support.
I joined Swanton in 2017 as a service manager and worked with the team to expand supported living services as well as manage residential homes. In time, I became regional director for the North-East in 2021, and Divisional Director in 2024. I learned very early on in my career with Swanton that the company is very passionate about the people we support, their homes and enriching their quality of life, which aligns with my own values.
I moved to England from Mumbai, India, in 2005 for education which I continued to do for several years. During this time, I integrated with people from many countries and cultures, and this helped broaden my viewpoints massively. I firmly believe this helped me to embrace diversity and value varied inputs throughout my career, which I have been in since 2006.
I understand that being in a support environment can be difficult. Together, the team and I are here to help in empowering and supporting those in our care to feel safe and live the lives they wish to lead.

At Murton Grange – Swanton Care, we have our own sensory room on site which is proven to be a popular hit with many of the people we support along with a garden full of activities too.
Pet therapy is a must here! Helping to relax and provide a sense of well-being, our therapy dog ‘Polar’ and a number of rabbits enjoy the people we support helping to take care of them.
When you have access to a mini-bus and a car, you can’t say no to a good day trip to Whitby or Scarborough which the people we support love to make the most of.
Feedback in our latest CQC’s report read: “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible.”
