Leanne Fairburn

Registered Manager

I began my career in management before moving into social care nine years ago, progressing from part‑time Support Worker to Senior Support Worker, Deputy Manager, PBS Practice Lead and Registered Manager. I’ve worked across a range of service environments supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, neurodiversity, autism, mental health needs, forensic backgrounds, acquired brain injury, Huntington’s disease and dementia.

As a Practice Lead, I developed PBS plans, delivered training and contributed to local authority PBS policy planning. I’m a qualified trainer in de‑escalation, personal safety and crisis management, and led a project that significantly reduced restrictive practices, resulting in a published case study with an external partner. My work has also focused on creating capable environments and holistic, therapeutic support packages. I maintain strong links with the Scottish Commission for People with a Learning Disability (SCLD) and Restraint Reduction Scotland (RRS).

I’m proud to be part of the Swanton team at Deanston House and remain passionate about human rights, reducing restrictions, and championing equality, diversity and opportunities for both the people we support and our staff.

David Brand

Divisional Director & Registered Manager

I joined Swanton Care and Community in July 2019 as Interim Regional Director and became Registered Manager of Southfields a short time later. During early 2024 I was then promoted to Divisional Director of Scotland. I have over 18 years operational management experience across all sectors of health and social care in Scotland. Professionally, I remain a Registered Mental Health nurse and as such I also lead and coordinate our Mental Health First Aiders across all of our services nationally.

My drive is to lead and support my team to provide person led care through empowering the people we support to achieve their potential and aspirations in life. We work in collaboration with all our partners in order to provide the very best service we can. As a former Scots Guardsman, I feel it is important to make a difference in young people’s lives and have been an Adult Volunteer with the Army Cadet Force for several years.
