Gemma, who’s supported at Glangarnant, recently had the surprise of a lifetime — a trip to EuroDisney to see Mickey and Minnie!
Early one morning, Gemma was woken by two familiar faces, Support Workers Fiona and Delyth, who had something very special to share: she was heading off on a birthday adventure!
Gemma hadn’t been on a plane in many years, and in the past had found the journey home particularly challenging. But with time, trust, and a lot of thoughtful planning, the Glangarnant team decided the time was right to try again — and what better reason than to celebrate Gemma’s birthday in true Disney style?
Michelle, Service Manager at Glangarnant, explained: “The team worked so hard behind the scenes to make everything feel fun, calm and exciting for Gemma. Every detail was planned with her individual needs in mind, and their care and creativity made the trip truly special. They were brilliant.”
To help make the return home a success, Fiona and Delyth waited until they were on their way to the airport to share the next surprise — Gemma’s birthday party with all her friends was waiting for her back at home!
The plan worked perfectly. Gemma made it home safe, happy, and full of stories from her magical adventure — and she’s already talking about her next trip to Disney!
