There was plenty of excitement at our Community Services in Hull as Andrew got ready to attend his college prom, marking the end of another successful year of learning and spending time with his friends.
After hearing about the prom at college, Andrew couldn’t wait to share the news with the team. In the days leading up to the event, he loved talking about the big day, discussing what he would wear and counting down the days until the celebrations. His excitement was clear for everyone to see, and the team enjoyed sharing in the anticipation with him.
Team Leader Nicole said: "Andrew really enjoys college. He loves learning with his teachers, has made some lifelong friends and is already looking forward to returning after the summer holidays to begin a new class and continue learning new skills.
Attending prom was the perfect way to celebrate everything he has achieved this year and mark the end of another successful year at college."
The night before the prom, Andrew carefully chose his outfit. Wanting to look his best for the occasion, he borrowed a smart shirt from his friend, DW, who was more than happy to help. Andrew took great pride in getting ready and was looking forward to spending the evening with his friends.
On the morning of the prom, after attending lessons with his classmates, Andrew returned home to get ready, with Scheme Manager Alison helping him style his hair for the celebrations.
Before setting off, Andrew stopped for a photograph with Scheme Manager Alison, Chelsea and Elliesha to mark the occasion. Andrew really enjoys looking back at photographs from important moments and reminiscing, so capturing the moment was an important part of the day.
Nicole added: "Seeing how proud and happy Andrew was before he left for prom was a lovely moment for everyone. He looked so smart and was really looking forward to the evening."
For Andrew, attending prom was an important milestone. Having watched his older siblings enjoy their own proms, it was an occasion he had been looking forward to for a long time. The evening gave him the opportunity to spend time with his friends, enjoy the celebrations and recognise everything he had achieved over the year.
When Andrew returned, he couldn’t wait to tell everyone about his evening. He had a fantastic time at prom with his friends and was excited to share stories from the night. Over the following days, he continued talking about the event and enjoyed looking back at the photographs that had been taken before he left.
Congratulations, Andrew! We hope you had a fantastic evening at prom and wish you all the best for another successful year at college.
