One young man is throwing his weight behind the campaign to keep Britain’s beaches tidy – starting in his local area.
Murray loves nothing more than strolling along his local seaside in Seaham but was dismayed to see the amount of litter left by others.
Determined to do something about all the garbage left behind, Murray got his trusty litter picker and a bin bag and headed out.
Murray said: “I live near the seaside and like to walk along the beach often, so I was keen to participate in this activity to help the environment.
“I found plastic objects such as empty bottles using my litter pickers, and I collected a lot of rubbish and put it in my bag.
“Once my bag was full and I couldn’t see any more rubbish, I emptied my bag into the bin.
“I enjoyed it very much and will be back to do more.”
Everyone who supports Murray at Trinity House was incredibly impressed by his efforts and his care for the environment.
Deputy Manager Connor Turnbull said: “It’s easy to see all this litter dropped in our beautiful local area and moan about how terrible it is, but taking action makes a difference.
“Murray worked hard to pick up as much as he could and restore the natural beauty of the beach.
“If there were more people like him who wanted to make a difference, we could keep Britain’s beaches – and all our areas – looking their best.”
