Beach Walking Boosts Joe's Wellbeing

Walking enthusiast Joe has been stepping out in style this summer with long walks along the stunning Welsh coastline.

Joe heads out for a walk every day, but it's always a treat when his route involves the seaside.

So, Joe had a wonderful time when he enjoyed a sunny stroll at Ogmore beach where he clocked up an impressive number of steps, as well as taking in the bracing sea air.

Support Worker Jaime Jenkins, who supports Joe at Values In Care's Graig Llwyd service, admitted it's often hard to keep up with Joe's pace.

Jaime said: "Joe absolutely loves his daily walks, even though he's often going so fast he's almost running, and I have to jog to keep up!

"We love to mix it up for him destination-wise, which is why we like to do plenty of beach walks at the weekend, such as the one at Ogmore.

"It's a quiet, beautiful beach with sand dunes, so we always park at the far end of the car park and do a big loop with Joe.

"The treat at the end is getting an ice cream from the van parked up at Ogmore Beach, and Joe enjoys picking out a delicious reward."

As well as Ogmore Beach, Joe often walks at Porthcawl Beach and Barry Island, where he also pops into the arcades.

Jaime added: "Joe's walks have such a positive impact on his wellbeing and it's so rewarding for us to support him.

"We all love to see him smiling, laughing and clapping his hands because he's enjoying himself so much.

"Having so many beautiful places to walk nearby means we can ensure Joe gets to enjoy lots of variety as he does the activity he loves most."
