The Monday Club with Swanton Community Services Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin is in full swing – and it’s been wonderful to see so many people we support coming together for fun, creativity, and connection.
June’s session was packed with activities including dreamcatcher-making, colouring, and – of course – plenty of cake. We were delighted to welcome Jade from Deepdale as our very first Volunteer Activity Coordinator for the initiative, and there was a fantastic turnout from Highmount. A big thank you to Brenda from Furnace Lane, our main activity organiser, for making the day such a success.

July’s Monday Club had a totally different feel, with a lively karaoke theme suggested by Jade. Jade not only coordinated the session alongside Brenda and our Peripatetic Care Manager Zoe, but she also kindly loaned her own karaoke machine so everyone could have a go. We had Christmas songs, Oasis hits, and even some classics from John B – with plenty of singing, dancing, and laughter throughout the afternoon.

Zoe summed up the atmosphere of the Monday Club perfectly “It was fantastic to see so many people come together, get creative, and have fun – dreamcatchers, colouring and cake… what more could you ask for?”
She added: “The karaoke session was a brilliant way to bring people out of their shells and share some laughs – everyone joined in, and the smiles said it all.”
The Monday Club runs on the last Monday of every month and offers something for everyone. Whether it’s crafting, bringing a board game, watching a film, having a cuppa, or simply catching up with friends, all are welcome.
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next Monday Club!
