Seaham View’s Stuart Healer has been singled out as a credit to his profession by those who work alongside him.
Colleague Terry Bayliss nominated Service Manager Stuart for one of Swanton’s ‘Above and Beyond’ Awards in recognition of his efforts to go the extra mile for his team.
Terry was there when Stuart’s busy day was interrupted by a staff member worried about problems with her training performance.
He was wowed by how Stuart handled the difficult moment and empowered his team member to resolve their issues swiftly and move forward positively.
Terry said: “Stuart and I were working in the office when one of his team came in worried sick about their online training.
“Stuart made her comfortable and gave her the time and space to explain where the barrier to her learning had originated.
“There were a couple of issues and Stuart thought outside the box to come up with solutions.
“I was so impressed by how Stuart handled the situation in a calm, non-judgemental and empathetic way.
“In a short space of time, they’d worked together to come up with a plan to move forward on the training and to resolve another issue that was impacting her learning.
“Before she left, Stuart’s colleague told me that she loves working at Seaham View because of Stuart and how he helps get the best out of his team and the people they support.”
The nomination came in time for Carers Week 2023, where we applaud the hard work and dedication of care workers across the nation.
After hearing he’d been nominated, Stuart was touched by Terry’s complimentary words and to know he’d help his colleague so much.
Stuart said: “My colleague is relatively new here, and this is her first care job, so it’s really important to me to help her feel comfortable.
“It’s so lovely when people value what you do, and it’s always more personal when the compliment comes from a colleague.
“We don’t just care for the people we support at Seaham View, we care for everyone who works here too.
“It always surprises me when we get singled out for things that come quite naturally to us here; it’s what we do – empower and support each other.”
