Team members, friends and family recently came together at Emily's House to mark E's transition into adulthood and wish her well as she prepares for an exciting new chapter in adult services.
To honour the occasion, the team at Emily's House organised a special leaving party, recognising E's achievements, celebrating friendships, and reflecting on all she has accomplished during her time at the service.
People from Emily's, Millie's, Courtyard and Holly House joined together to share in the festivities, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.
Entertainment was provided by Music Mick, whose singing and guitar playing kept everyone entertained throughout the day. Children enjoyed a bouncy castle and time outdoors in the sunshine, while Animal Man introduced a range of animals for guests to meet and learn about.
Victoria, Registered Manager at Emily's House, said: "It was a wonderful environment, full of fun and laughter. It was lovely to see so many of our children, families and colleagues come together to wish E the very best for the future."
For E, the day was an opportunity to spend time with the people who have supported her along the way.
Victoria added: "E was smiling throughout the party. E really enjoys people watching, especially when it's children playing, and enjoyed having family there to celebrate this special occasion."
While the party was a chance to celebrate, it also highlighted the careful planning and preparation involved in supporting a young person as they move from children's services into adulthood.
The Emily's House team worked closely with E to ensure every aspect of the transition was tailored to individual needs and preferences. Social stories were used to explain upcoming changes, while mood boards helped E choose how her new bedroom would look and feel.
To make the move as comfortable as possible, familiar items were introduced ahead of time to help create continuity between the current and future home environments.
Victoria explained: "The idea was to make her new room feel as similar as possible to her old one so she felt comfortable and safe."
The team also worked to ensure important information about E's preferences, routines and interests was shared with her new provider. Detailed handover information included favourite activities, daily routines and personal preferences, helping to maintain consistency of support.
Building positive relationships was a key focus throughout the planning process.
Before moving, E had opportunities to become familiar with her new surroundings, personal space and the people supporting her. Emily's House colleagues also worked closely with family members, education providers and partner organisations to ensure a joined-up approach.
Victoria said: "Even though transitions can be exciting, they can also be a scary and confusing time. Building positive relationships beforehand helps young people feel more comfortable, confident and reassured."
The involvement of family members remained central throughout the process.
"We make sure families feel involved and included. Their knowledge and understanding of their child is invaluable and working together helps create the best possible transition experience."
E's party also provided an opportunity for children and colleagues from different services to spend time together, make new connections and strengthen existing friendships.
Victoria shared: "It's lovely because it helps the children build friendships and brings staff teams together."
Having so many familiar faces there made the day even more meaningful. "It showed E just how loved and cared for she is. It also brings us together as a team, especially when the other homes join in the fun."
Reflecting on the occasion, Victoria said celebrations like E's leaving party play an important role in recognising achievements and helping young people embrace change with confidence.
"For young people, it shows that their journey and achievements matter. It supports a smoother emotional transition and helps them feel supported rather than alone in the change."

As E looks ahead to the future, the team are proud of everything she has achieved and the progress she has made during her time at the service.
Victoria said: "The team have been amazing. E was very well loved and cared for at Emily's House, and the connection she had with the team was clear to see. They see each child as an individual and always focus on what matters to them. They actively encourage our children to show us their voice and how they feel."
While E will be greatly missed, everyone at Emily's House is excited to see what the future holds. The celebration was a chance to reflect on the many achievements, friendships and memories made along the way, while recognising the confidence and resilience E has shown throughout her time at the service.
The day also highlighted the importance of working closely with children and young people and their families to make transitions as positive and successful as possible. Through careful planning, strong relationships and a commitment to understanding what matters most to each child, the team has supported E to take this next step with confidence.
