Team Administrator, Zoe from Darwin Community Support is a mental health first aider for Swanton and works shifts for the Samaritans. She is a Listening Volunteer at the Telford branch, helping to support anybody who needs a shoulder to cry on. Having already smashed her original fundraising goal of £165 just as the challenge started, Samaritans volunteer, Zoe hopes to bring in the cash for this brilliant cause.
Zoe said:
“The Samaritans is a fabulous charity, and we work tirelessly to support people in emotional distress who need a listening ear during a difficult time. It’s daunting to run 50 miles in May, but I’m determined to do it and raise funds to help support our work. I believe that everybody deserves someone who’ll be there for them when they need somebody to listen and every donation means a lot to Samaritans and the Samaritans volunteers because it could save somebody’s life.””
The Samaritans are there when people are in a crisis, and one of the charity’s main aims is suicide prevention, so by giving callers a person to reach out to with whom they can talk about their problems and share their fears, they aim to stop people from taking their own lives.
