The positivity is palpable at Seaham View this summer after the team were handed a ‘Good’ rating by the CQC.
Better yet, the service was awarded the ‘Good’ rating across all five criteria – which include categories safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Registered Manager Stuart Healer, new Service Manager Steph Fallowfield and the team were thrilled with the inspector’s feedback and to hear the glowing reports they received from the people they support and their families.
Stuart said: “We’re delighted to receive the ‘Good’ rating and to know that we are achieving this standard across all five criteria.
“It means a lot to us to read this report and hear what the people we support and their relatives have to say about the care we provide and how it positively impacts their lives.”
The report found that ‘people were supported to be as independent as possible and to do things for themselves. Staff were caring and shared an aim to support people to live full and meaningful lives.’
It also detailed that a relative of one of the people supported at Seaham View told inspectors, “My [family member] says it is the best place they have lived.”
Another said: “The biggest compliment is that my [family member] refers to Seaham View as their home”.
The report also talked about how Seaham View supported people to ‘maintain relationships that were important to them’.
The inspector wrote: “A relative told us, ‘The home has been very supportive in rebuilding relationships.’
According to Stuart, the whole team is delighted to have received such great feedback.
Stuart said: “I’m very proud of everyone at Seaham View, all of whom work so hard.
“Our new manager Steph has hit the ground running and is doing fantastic work in keeping this momentum going.
“To know that what we do is making a profound difference in the lives of the people we support is the best reward.
“I want to thank each member of our team for everything they do, day in, day out.”
