Ella’s Easter Tombola Raises Funds and Smiles For Hospice

A whopping £500 is on its way to Pendleside Hospice in Burnley this spring, thanks to the fantastic efforts of big-hearted Ella*.

Ella, who is supported by Swanton Care & Community Northwest, got involved with the annual Easter fundraiser through Team Leader Donna Mawson.

Donna’s daughter Kirsty and granddaughter Hallie began the charity event four years ago in memory of her husband Ian, who passed away at Pendleside Hospice.

Each year, Ella has got increasingly involved and is now proudly running the busy tombola stall.

Donna said: “It’s been brilliant to see Ella develop new skills every year, thanks to the Easter fundraiser.

“At first, she attended the event wearing a fundraising t-shirt, but she’s worked her way up to running the tombola.

“On the way, she’s learnt to handle money, developed organisational skills and built her social confidence. It’s been so gratifying to see her pitch in and do something that means so much to me and my family.”

The event is held at Greenhill Bowling Club in Burnley and attracts plenty of local visitors.

This year’s efforts raised an incredible £2,300 for Pendleside Hospice, with £500 coming from Ella’s tombola stall.

Donna added: “I’m incredibly proud of my daughter and granddaughter for all they do to make this event so successful.

“It takes a few months to collect all the prizes for our big raffle and tombola stalls, where we seek donations from local businesses and collect unwanted Christmas presents.

“It’s a team effort, and we’re delighted that Ella is part of that team and that her parents come along to support the event each year.

“This money will help Pendleside Hospice continue to support patients and their families during the most difficult time in their lives.”
