Emily’s House Takes on the Colour Run for Rocco’s Hospice

Emily’s House once again took on the Colour Run this year, with children and staff coming together to raise money for Rocco’s Hospice and enjoy every colourful moment along the way. The event has become a much-loved annual event for everyone at the service.

“We’ve made this a yearly tradition,” said Victoria, Registered Manager at Emily’s House. “We love getting involved in community activities and helping to raise awareness and money for a good cause.”

The children got stuck in across the day and had a great time getting involved, as music at the starting line helped build excitement before everyone set off around the course.

“The children really enjoy it — there are always lots of smiles and laughter throughout the day,” Victoria shared. “They especially love the checkpoints where the coloured powder is thrown, even more so when they get to throw it at the staff.”

There was lots of colour, cheering and smiles throughout the day — from the starting line to the finish line and beyond.

Staff were on hand throughout the run to support and encourage the children, making sure everyone felt included and able to join in.

“Our staff made sure the children felt supported the whole way through,” Victoria explained. “They communicated with them, encouraged them, and offered hand-over-hand support so they could join in fully, from throwing the powder to sharing in the fun with everyone else.”

Supporting Rocco’s Hospice was something the team felt especially proud to be part of.

“It’s something we like to do as a team,” said Victoria. “We want to help raise awareness and support those in need. Our team is incredibly caring and child-centred, which is what makes it so meaningful for us.”

For the children, events like the Colour Run offer more than just an enjoyable day out. They create valuable opportunities to be part of the community and experience new environments.

“These events help the children feel included and give them new experiences,” Victoria said. “They support confidence, independence, and open the door to new opportunities.”

“It really brings the team together,” Victoria added. “Being involved in the community helps strengthen us as a service.”

Reflecting on the day, Victoria highlighted the wider importance of events like this.

“It’s so important that we take part in days like these,” she said. “They encourage our children to be part of their community while raising money for a local charity, all while building confidence through new experiences.”

A huge well done to everyone involved for making the day such a positive and memorable one, while supporting an important local cause.
