On 11th May, the incredible young people and team at Emily’s House, part of Courtyard Care, laced up their trainers and hit the track for a Colour Run at Walton Gardens—all in support of St Rocco’s Hospice, a cause close to their hearts.
To cheer them on, Swanton were proud to donate £100 to the team as they geared up for a fun-filled day of colour, connection, and community spirit.
Victoria, Deputy Manager at Emily’s House, shared what inspired the team to get involved:
"We encourage our children to be a part of their community and take part in local events. We felt as a team it was a good opportunity to do something good for a deserving cause and to have some fun together."
And fun was definitely had! The young person who took part was all smiles throughout the day, especially when the music played and the coloured powder started flying. “He showed lots of laughter and smiles throughout the event,” Victoria said.
The team made sure everything was in place for a safe and enjoyable experience. They checked that the coloured powder wouldn’t impact any respiratory conditions and made sure staff were on hand to support, including taking turns pushing the wheelchair around the gardens.
Taking part in events like this is about more than just a day out—it’s a chance to promote wellbeing and inclusion.
"It gave the young people a joyful, community-based experience where they felt celebrated, connected and empowered," Victoria added.
One of the standout moments? When the staff and young person began playfully throwing coloured powder at each other—resulting in lots of laughter and happy memories.
Victoria summed it up perfectly: "This was a joyful experience. It’s encouraged staff to take part in more events. We’d all love to do the Santa Dash this year together with our young people."
