A long-awaited Christmas party for Swanton’s North East services brought together over 70 people supported in the region for the first time in three years.
Partygoers travelled to The Alexandra in Sunderland, where a fun-packed day of music, socialising and delicious food awaited them.
Santa Claus also made it to the party, as Nathan – who is supported at Murton Grange – donned the famous festive costume and gave out gifts.
Organiser Jan Collins, Service Manager at The Cedars, said it was terrific to share the special occasion with so many friends in the North East.
Jan said: “Our Christmas party was everything we dreamed it would be.
“It’s been a long time since we were able to bring everyone together for a party, and it was very emotional to see how much it meant to the people we support.
“The event was full of joy and laughter, and wonderful memories were made. Better still, the people we support were over the moon and haven’t stopped talking about how much they enjoyed it.”
The party featured a disco, face painting, puzzles, arts and crafts, and a delicious buffet.
Kebabs, wraps, pies, sandwiches and other savoury treats were on offer, and there were sweet treats on each table.
There was an exceptional musical performance by talented Sarah from Seaham View, who was among the people supported who overcame obstacles to enjoy the night.
Jan said: “Sarah sang ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey and brought the house down.
“We handed out some prizes on the night for people who’d overcome obstacles to join us, and Sarah was among the recipients.
“There was so much love and warmth in the room – it really captured the Christmas spirit.”
