There was double the reason to celebrate at Glangarnant House last week, as the service hosted its much-loved annual Family BBQ while also marking an incredible milestone — 20 years of Glangarnant!
The day was filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit. Families, friends, and team members came together to enjoy delicious BBQ food, a lively darts competition, and entertainment from a live singer. The games, music, and sunshine created a wonderful atmosphere that everyone could enjoy.

Reflecting on the milestone, Registered Service Manager Michelle shared how proud she was to reach 20 years of providing outstanding care:
“It’s been 20 years of the amazing people we support receiving excellent care from fabulous people. It’s a big milestone to hit, and to think of all the wonderful staff who have been part of the journey over the years. Now we’re at a time where the people we support have been the most settled they’ve ever been, with a fabulously caring support team by their side all the way.”
Families also shared heartfelt messages of thanks. One parent wrote: “Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely afternoon. Can’t believe Glangarnant is 20 years old! As always, we can’t thank all of you enough for how you look after Luke and make his life so wonderful, and how you look after us too… Special mention to Cellan today. He was a star and very thoughtful looking after Mark. You’re all amazing.”

Feedback like this means the world to the team, with Michelle saying: “The compliments make us smile from ear to ear!”
When asked what part of the day the people supported enjoyed most, Michelle added: “I actually believe it was all of it! Every second was fun, exciting and heartwarming. It was all fabulous!”
She also highlighted how important events like the summer BBQ are for bringing everyone together:
“It’s nice for all the parents to come together to chat about their loved ones and how well they’re all getting on in life. We meet once in the summer for a BBQ and again for Christmas dinner. It’s important for the individuals to enjoy their families in a social setting.”
Looking back over the last 20 years, Michelle said: “I’m proud of the staff we have and how far the people we support have come. They’re all much older than when they first came to us and most have changed quite a bit. It’s lovely to know that they all still feel so safe and happy.”
And as for the future? “I’d love to see Glangarnant continue to thrive as it’s doing, and maybe extend so more people we support can join our fabulous team.”
The day was a true celebration of Glangarnant’s past, present, and future — and here’s to many more wonderful years ahead!
