Godstime’s Journey of Growth and Determination

At Swanton Community Services, we love recognising the dedication of our colleagues—like Godstime, a Support Worker at SCS Tyne & Wear who joined us in 2023. His journey is a true reflection of determination and pride in personal growth.

Over the past year, he’s completed his RQF Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care—a qualification he chose to fund himself, driven by his passion for supporting others and his long-term career goals.

We caught up with Godstime to hear more about what motivated him: “I’ve always had a strong passion for supporting people with disabilities,” he shared.

“I saw a real opportunity to grow my career at Swanton, so I chose to invest in my development and take this step forward.”

Despite not being eligible for funded training at the time, he enrolled with Access Skills Limited and committed himself to the journey.

“I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. I knew it would help me grow and develop in my role. From the moment I started, my outlook changed—especially in how I support people and understand their needs.”

As his learning progressed, so did his confidence and approach: “The course, along with all the face-to-face and online training at Swanton, really shaped the way I work. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how to put the people we support first, in every decision.”

Looking ahead, Godstime is excited about the next step in his journey “If the opportunity comes up, I’d love to take on more responsibility. I’m already planning to start my RQF Level 5 soon. My dream is to become a PBS trainer one day.”

He also reflected on the support he's received along the way: “The staff team I work with have been brilliant. Tracy Pochec has always been there when I’ve needed help. Megan Bell supported me through my observations, and Olayemi Adeyemi has also been a great help.”

Godstime’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but his drive to learn and grow never wavered.

“There was a time when I faced a difficult period professionally, and it really made me think hard about how I could improve. That moment pushed me to focus on bettering myself and becoming a stronger support worker.”

Now, he’s looking back with pride: “I feel great—I’ve grown personally and professionally. I can proudly say I’m a trained healthcare worker, and I work for one of the best providers in the sector.”

Congratulations, Godstime—your hard work and focus are truly inspiring, and we’re excited to see where your journey leads next.
