Verity earned a sweet treat from Swanton Chief Operating Officer Tom Pick this winter in recognition of her hard work.
It all began when Verity came up with a way to earn extra money for her much-loved shopping trips.
Verity, who is supported at Seaham View, agreed to visit neighbouring service Eastholme to help clean their support vehicle every Wednesday.
The job meant the bus was kept spick and span, and Verity could earn cash to spend at her favourite stores.
However, when the weather took a turn for the worse this winter, it was impossible for Verity to do her regular job.
That’s when Tom Pick came up with the idea of giving her a treat to mark all the times she got stuck into her cleaning job.
Deputy Manager Liam Hodgson said: “Verity was thrilled when she found out about the treat.
“She chose to go to Lickety Split café in Seaham, where she got a delicious brownie and ice-cream combo and a cuppa, too.
“She and her Support Worker Alex had a lovely time, and Verity thoroughly enjoyed the fact she didn’t have to pay.
“It was a terrific experience and well-deserved.”
