Harley’s Mum Is Overjoyed With Handmade Gift

A special gift made for a son for his beloved mum made Mother’s Day 2024 very poignant at Deanston House.

Harley, who is supported at the service, created a lovely bent wood ring to give to his mum Mary on the day itself.

Senior Support Worker John McGleish helped Harley through the different stages of the jewellery making, as he enjoyed his first ever session doing the craft.

All the time and effort spent to make the ring, which sits beautifully on a leather necklace, meant the world to Mary.

John said: “Harley wanted to make his mum something extra special for Mother’s Day, and the bent wood ring was a lovely craft to do.

“It wasn’t easy to make, but Harley was very focused and patient as we worked through all the different stages.

“The result is a lovely piece of jewellery for his mum to treasure.”

As Mother’s Day dawned, Harley couldn’t wait to give Mary her present – and he wasn’t disappointed by her reaction.

John added: “Mary was overjoyed to receive this handmade gift, and Harley was so proud to give it to her.

“He thinks very highly of his mum, and they have a lovely relationship.

“I was delighted I could support him with the jewellery-making and that Harley and Mary were able to create another happy memory together.”
